· Disability Allowance
Is to cover doctors prescription costs and travel. This benefit is means tested and
can be applied for at WINZ.
· Child Disability Allowance
Any child with a diagnosed condition falling under the 'Special Needs' category is
entitled to this allowance. It is not means tested and forms
· Health Funding Authority Carer Support
You will have to contact your doctor or specialist for this form. It assesses your
needs and allots your child a certain amount of days per year of paid carer
support. This means that you can pay someone to have your child/teen
(in their home or yours) so you can have a break. The cost of payment is
$30 ½ day. $60 overnight. This can be used for camps or special outings
that your child wants to attend with other adult supervision.
